Domestic Beasts

Domestic Beasts :

In us exists something primordial; violent, sexual, and uninhibited. This is in heavy contrast to the lives we’ve built for ourselves. We live comfort in a n indoctrinated domesticity but we dwell in the recesses of our innate humanity.

This show combines sculptural vignettes of vintage furniture with painting of vintage scenes of both sexual and violent acts. Their is a nostalgia in the source material that allows one to reflect on the nature of self. Where do our hearts really lay and is there a divide between our docility and our animality? Do we miss ourselves?
